TikTok is hopping on the social media shopping train like its competitors Instagram and Facebook. Shopify has joined the social media platform to offer In-App shopping. All Shopify merchants from the U.S., U.K. and Canada have signed up to participate in the TikTok’s shopping trials.
This marks the first time that users will be able to shop in the video app. TikTok is a popular video app among Gen Z. With the significant growth of TikTok influencers there is a huge market. Since the birth of influencer culture and fashion bloggers, social media has helped to drive clothing sales.
“TikTok is uniquely placed at the center of content and commerce,” Blake Chandlee, president of global business solutions at TikTok, said in a statement. These new solutions make it easier for businesses of any size to create engaging content that drives customers directly to the digital point-of-purchase.
TikTok first announced its partnership with Shopify last October with introduction of new tools to allow Shopify merchant to create and run TikTok marketing campaigns from their Shopify dashboard. With this partnership, TikTok has expanded its e-commerce capabilities with Shopify merchants now able to sync product catalogues to create storefronts using their TikTok for Business accounts.
