Marimekko, a Finnish design company, has revealed its second collaboration with Adidas for a limited edition AW21 line.

The collection combines streetwear and sportswear. It features performance pieces that can be used for training, tennis, and swimming. The collection also includes a variety of accessories and shoes, including joggers, sweaters, bike shorts and sweaters.

Marimekko’s late textile designer Maija Isola brought Marimekko’s homeware company back into the limelight in the 1960s with a poppy-inspired print. This marks the first use of Isola’s 1964 Unikko design for sportswear. The design was also used in a number pieces of the new collection.

Several items are also made from recycled materials or Parley Ocean plastic, which is made from upcycled plastic waste collected from different shorelines.

Tiina Alahuhta Kasko, Marimekko CEO, said, “We are thrilled to reunite Adidas for this second limited-edition collaboration and introduce our most emblematic print design, Unikko. A true symbol of creativity for the first time,” in a statement. “The Marimekko x Adidas capsule reflects both brands’ commitments to sustainability, originality, empowerment, and we hope the functional, yet fun products will bring joy to the everyday activities of people all over the globe.”

The two brands collaborated earlier in the year on their debut collection, which combines the brand’s iconic styles. Two of Marimekko’s most iconic prints were featured in the products, Annika Rimala’s Laine and Maija Loekari’s Rasymatto.

The new Marimekko x Adidas collection will be available on both the Adidas and Marimekko websites starting in September. It will also be available at selected Adidas stores throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
