Washington – Linda Evangelista, a former supermodel, claims she was permanently disfigured after undergoing a fat-reduction procedure. It backfired and left her looking bloated and unrecognizable.

56-year-old Evangelista said that she had undergone “CoolSculpting”, five years ago, and that it had the rare sideeffect of making her fat cells increase rather than decrease.

Evangelista, a Canadian 1990s modeling icon who starred in catwalks alongside Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford, stated Wednesday on Instagram that she was not warned about the risks. She is now filing a lawsuit.

She explained that her current appearance was the result of paradoxical adiposehyplasia, which she said explained her recent absence from the spotlight.

“To my followers, who have asked why I haven’t been working when my peers’ careers are thriving, I can tell you that Zeltiq CoolSculpting did the opposite of what I expected,” Evangelista wrote.

“It caused my fat cells to increase, not decrease, and made me permanently deformed, even after two painful, unsuccessful corrective surgeries.” She added: “I was ‘unrecognizable’ as the media described me.”

Cosmetic sculpting is meant to kill fat cells and freeze them so the body can get rid of them.

Evangelista stated that her job was a disaster and she has become a depressed recluse, racked with self-loathing and her livelihood gone.

Evangelista wrote, “I am moving ahead to rid myself from my shame and going public with mine story.”

“I am so tired of living like this. I would love to be able to leave my house with my head up, even though I don’t look like me anymore.”
