British Fashion Council (BFC), has announced that TikTok, a social media platform, will be the main partner for the Fashion Awards. This partnership will bring new digital implementations to the event’s production.
The event will be redesigned to incorporate performances, awards and cultural moments from the previous year. The prizes to be presented include 15 2021 Leaders of Change, Designer of the Year, BFC Foundation award, Outstanding Achievement, and the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator.
The awards, along with TikTok will be made available via global streaming and platform amplification in an effort to increase the event’s connectivity, and reach new audiences.
TikTok, a Fashion Awards account, will present the red carpet ceremony before the show. The live broadcast uses the platform’s tools to reach its global audience.
Caroline Rush, chief executive of the BFC, said in a statement that “We are delighted to welcome TikTok at The Fashion Awards 2021.” The British Fashion Council has been a leader in innovation and technology since its beginnings.
She added: “As The Fashion Awards returns on November 29th, we look forward to working closely with TikTok to expand the event’s global reach and open it up to new audience members. We also plan to celebrate exceptional individuals and businesses who have made significant contributions in the global fashion community.”
TikTok also participated in London Fashion Week’s most recent edition. TikTok worked with BFC to create its New Gen division. This division celebrates emerging designers through digitally-presented showrooms and exhibitions.
This ceremony will raise funds to support the BFC Foundation, which was established to promote the success and growth of British fashion.
