Salvatore Ferragamo, an Italian luxury house, has launched a 300-piece line of upcycled shoes & accessories called Icon-Up.

The limited edition Icon-Up collection is made with repurposed luxury products and materials while retaining the brand’s heritage, local production and Made In Italy hallmarks.

The sustainability initiative’s backbone is made up of three stories: shoes are reclaimed at the end their lives, belts are remade from production leftovers, and silk fabric rescued from unwanted items. FarFetch is the exclusive retailer for this collection as part of the Positively Conscious range.

Ferragamo added sustainability to its packaging. This includes the drawstring dust bag that each item is packaged in. Similar to the previous bags, these are made from stock leftovers and crafted with refashioned fabric. The dual leather cords were also used from production leftovers. This bag was originally used to store an accessory and is now a backpack.

Favini Remake paper is used to make the boxes. It contains 30 percent post-consumer pulp and 25 percent pre-consumer skin waste. An independent standard certifies that this paper has been third-party certified. It is aimed at protecting ancient forests and encouraging responsible forest management. The box’s outer surface is dry embossed, rather than printed. This reduces chemical and water use. Wrapping tissue paper is 100% recycled.
