Party-ready

We are now able to go out again. So designers have developed dressier looks that feature shimmering fabrics, bold cuts, and extravagant details. In women’s collections, we’ve seen daring mini dresses and floor-length embellishments. While in men’s wear, shiny suits and jewel-encrusted pieces were the rage. Dolce & Gabbana presented suits and jackets for men, paired with silk shirts. Ndeg21 showed a mini dress in neon sequins that sparkled in the women’s wear section. Fashion industry is sending a clear message: It’s time for partying again.

Arts and crafts

For spring 2022, it has been noted that handmade and unique clothing is back in fashion. Collections presented well-crafted, stylish looks that are easy to wear. We’ve seen Dsquared2 showcase colourful mix-and match knits, while Chloe introduced neutral wardrobe essentials that were highlighted by fringes. Acne Studios spotted a large patchwork cardigan in the men’s collection. Bethany Williams wore a multicoloured coat with fringes in brown and tan tones.

Bodycon and shapewear

The Spring Summer 2022 catwalks featured a lot of fitted cuts and stretchy fabric. Next summer’s silhouettes will emphasize shapes with lots of body-conscious pieces, regardless of whether they are made with thicker or sheer fabrics. The men’s collection featured fitted ribbed tank tops with tights and shrunken cardsigans, while the women’s show featured mini ruched dresses and crop tops. The 90’s bodycon trend has been revived by designers, but this time they are using a 2022 shapewear perspective.

Sportwear that is refined

Over the past decade, sportswear has been a staple in both men’s and women’s wear. But 2022 will welcome a new, more sophisticated version. Styles can be worn at work thanks to their simplified cuts and elevated fabrics. Fendi men showed a pared back look with a structured crossbody bag. Courreges paired tech-jersey tops and perfectly tailored coats with their runway show. We’ve seen Burberry mix retro-inspired sportswear silhouettes and crisp button-downs in their women’s collections. Max Mara presented sporty, relaxed cuts in elegant neutrals.
