The Groninger Museum, Netherlands, has announced that they will present a retrospective of Gianni Versace, the late fashion designer, in 2022.

The museum describes Versace as one of the most influential couturiers. It will honor Versace’s trailblazing designs and show men’s and woman’s outfits, fabrics, drawings and interior designs. Also, footage from Versace’s legendary catwalk shows between 1989 and 1997 will be shown.

The “Gianni Versace Retrospective” will run from December 2, 2022 to May 7, 2023. It will be a “colourful daring emotional exhibition” that will show that Gianni Versace’s revolutionary spirit lives on today, even though he was killed 25 years ago.

According to the museum’s press release, all the items displayed are original pieces that were sourced from private collections around the world. They will show how Versace merged fashion, music, photography, and graphic design. He was a pioneer in the transformation fashion campaigns and shows into art.

A spotlight will be placed on Versace’s transformation of previously undiscovered models into stars, like Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, and Cindy Crawford. Also, there will be an opportunity to see his advertising campaigns featuring forward-looking photographers like Helmut Newton and Peter Lindbergh.

Groninger Museum stated that the exhibition would be curated and curated by Saskia Lubnow and Karl von der Ahe, Versace experts.

The Groninger Museum will host a Gianni Versace Retrospective in December 2022.
