Frank and Oak, a Montreal-based sustainable clothing company, presents “Traced By VeChain”, its latest collection in Asia’s first physical store. It’s located in the Tai Koo Li shopping center in downtown Shanghai.
Sacha Silva, a Montreal native who pioneered sustainable design and construction in China over the past 20 years, designed the Shanghai store. The shop’s materials are, for example, biodegradable and recyclable at the end their lives. Future shops can reuse the modular and demountable display systems.
Frank and Oak’s iconic winter products include the opening collection, which includes Frank and Oak’s most iconic items made from sustainable fabrics and process such as the unique yak sweaters and accessories that are made with yarns and processed traceable by VeChain.
The yarn is spun by UPW, a top spinner of luxury yarns. However, the upstream yak yarn comes from Shokay. Shokay is a sustainable textiles company that sources yak yarn directly from Tibetan herders. Frank, Oak, Shokay and UPW committed 1 percent of the proceeds of this collection to a Sichuan grassland conservation program.
VeChain’s Blockchain technology is used by Shokay and UPW to quickly capture supply chain data, and manage proof-of-production. Frank and Oak can use the data visualisation module to communicate their sustainability efforts to customers who can scan the QR code at-store to discover the story behind the style.
