Amazon announced plans to create over 2000 tech and corporate jobs in Austin, Texas over the next few year, expanding its Austin Tech Hub. These roles will be used to support the growth of teams in Operations Technology, Amazon Retail and Amazon Business. They include senior data engineers, senior program managers, user-experience designers, financial analysts, and senior technical program managers.

We’re excited to continue offering exciting career opportunities for local residents, with more than 3000 new jobs and over 1000 available corporate and tech roles.”
Amazon has signed a lease agreement for 330,000 square feet in a new building at The Domain in Austin to accommodate its expansion. It is expected that the new office space will be available for employees by early 2024. Amazon has over 3000 employees in tech and corporate roles at the Austin Tech Hub. This investment will be added to the three existing locations at The Domain in Austin, which provide access to local restaurants, retail, and entertainment.
Amazon constantly innovates and creates new programs as part of its recruiting and hiring efforts. This allows candidates from all backgrounds and experience to join the company. Amazon Returnship is one of the most recent programs. Bestfit is another. Amazon Returnship is an initiative that helps professionals return to work after losing or leaving their job. This includes people who have been displaced by COVID-19. Amazon offers this paid 16-week program to those who have been unemployed or underemployed for at most one year. This initiative gives them a chance to reenter the workforce and restart their Amazon careers. The interview process is short and tailored to the candidate’s career path. After they are hired, they receive personalized coaching and support. After four months of the program, the returners can move into full-time Amazon positions. Best Fit, a program for software engineers that allows them to apply once and be considered in thousands of positions across hundreds of companies within the company.
Amazon’s Austin Tech Hub investment is part of a multicity expansion throughout the country. In the next few years, 3000 jobs will be created in Austin, Chicago, Phoenix, and other cities. Amazon announced in the past 18 months expansions at its Houston and Dallas offices (150 new jobs) as well as 600 new jobs.
